I wondered if it was possible to replace wooden shakes with vinyl siding only on the front of my house. It is a one story ranch - about 60 feet wide (this includes a garage). I'd like a ballpark estimate for materials and installation - and whether or not its possible to cap the sides even if one of the sides on each corner being capped would be wooden shakes.

Selling the house and need a repair per engineers inspection. leaky gutter has cause a a little rot. I took one cedar shingle off with intention to fix it and have not. The wood is very damp and starting to rot. Not sure how extensive is the damage.
